Season 1, Episode 1 - #5

단어를 모르거나 작문이 안되면 진짜 잘 안들리는 것 같다.

스스로 작문이 가능한 수준의 문장은 들리지만... 그렇지 않은 문장은 안들린다. ㅠㅠ

스크립트를 보면서... 단어와 표현들을 먼저 익히고

실제로 어떤 상황에서 어떤 발음으로 쓰이는지, 어떤 제스쳐와 쓰이는지를 반복적으로 듣고, 따라 말하는게

더 도움이 될지 모르겠다.

이번 상황은, 글로리아와 제이 가족이 매니의 축구 경기 후, 집으로 오면서 나누는 대화다.

축구를 그만두겠다고 하는 매니, 그리고 경기장에서 흥분했던 글로리아를 너무 감정적이라며 나무라는 제이,

여기에 한 발짝도 물러서지 않는 글로리아.

그리곤 매니의 성격이 자세히 묘사된다.

좋아하는 소녀와의 나이 차이를 지적하자 논리적으로 반박을 하고

차려입고 그녀의 직장으로 직접 찾아갈 생각을 하고, 바로 보이던 꽃까지 꺾는 실행력까지.

그녀에 대한 순수한 사랑과 열정을 엿볼 수 있다. (라틴계에 대한 편견인듯)

인터뷰에선 이런 매니의 성격이 글로리아의 전 남편과 닮았음을 이야기한다.

(이 역시 라틴계 미국인에 대한 편견이 아닐런지...)

Manny: I'm quitting soccer. it is a game for children.

Gloria: No. you're not quitting. you would have stopped the goal, if you weren't staring a little girl.

Jay: You know, Gloria. That little blow-up with the other mom... why do you have to do thing like this?

Gloria: Oh yeah, cause that's where you live down here. But i live up here!

Jay: You don't have to be so emotional all the time. That's all i'm saying.
Manny! you're with me on this, right?

Manny: I wanna tell Brenda, i love her.

Jay: Oh, for god sakes.

Gloria: Manny, she's 16.

Manny: Oh, it's OK for you to take an older lover?

Jay: Hey, Watch out!

Manny: I wanna go to the mall where she works. but first i need to get my white shirt. The silk one.

Jay: Seriously, not to be evil stepdad, but if you put on a puffy white shirt and declare your love for 16-year-old
you're gonna be swinging from the flagpole in your puffy white underpants.

Manny: Stop the car!

Gloria: Where're you going? you see? you hurt his feeling.

Jay: Eh~ Well, if it toughens him up a little bit then...  Oh, geez! He's picking flowers!

Gloria: Manny is very passionate. just like his father. My first husband, he's very handsome but, too crazy.
It seemed like all we did was fight and make love, fight and make love, fight and make love!
